Privacy
This page covers the Veduta app and this website. The short version: your portfolio stays on your Mac, the app sends nothing to us unless you switch on usage statistics, and the site counts downloads without keeping anything about who downloaded.
The app
Your portfolio, watchlist, notes, alerts, forecasts and API keys are kept in files on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/com.stockpred.pro. They are not sent to us.
To work, the app talks to other services directly from your Mac:
- Price and news sources. The symbols you look at go to Yahoo Finance, and to any source you have added a key for (Twelve Data, Finnhub, Tiingo, EODHD, Alpha Vantage). Each key goes only to its own service.
- Exchange rates. The currency codes you hold go to frankfurter.dev, which publishes the European Central Bank's reference rates.
- AI text. When you click for AI text and have set an Anthropic key, that stock's figures and headlines go to Anthropic to write it. Nothing goes there otherwise.
- Brokerage. If you connect an Alpaca account, orders you confirm go to Alpaca.
- Updates. The app asks this site for the latest version number and any announcement. That request carries the version you are running and nothing else.
Those services have their own privacy policies, and what they do with a request is up to them.
Usage statistics (off unless you switch them on)
In Settings you can choose to share usage statistics. When that is on, the app sends this site:
- a random install number made on your Mac, which is not linked to your name, email or address;
- the app's version and the macOS version;
- for each time the app was open, how long it was open and how many seconds were spent on each page (Summary, Portfolio, and so on).
It never sends symbols, holdings, prices, notes, keys or anything you typed. Switching it off stops the sending at once, and anything counted but not yet sent is thrown away. To have the data already sent deleted, write to the address below with your install number, which Settings shows.
This website
- Downloads. Each download is counted with its date, the version and the name of the site that linked to it, if any. Your IP address is held in memory for up to two minutes to stop repeated counting, and is never written to the database.
- Cookies. None for visitors. The site's owner has one sign-in cookie for the dashboard.
- Fonts and scripts are served from this site. Nothing is loaded from Google or an advertising network.
- Hosting. The site runs on Railway, which processes requests to serve it and keeps short technical logs.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK you can ask what is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Since the site and the app hold almost nothing that identifies anyone, most requests will be answered by saying so. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
